[00:01:12] Speaker A: I'm good. You know Melissa, I met. Well, you tell them too. But Jay, do you want to say anything too, before we get going? [00:01:20] Speaker C: No, I'm curious to know how you guys know each other. [00:01:23] Speaker A: Oh, perfect, perfect. Well, Melissa, take it over. How do we know each other? [00:01:29] Speaker B: Well, basically, I started following Kelly. I am totally obsessed with New York City. I have been traveling by myself most of the time. Probably 11 years. 1112 years now. I come last year. I was here seven times. [00:01:51] Speaker A: Wow. [00:01:51] Speaker B: In the year. [00:01:52] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:01:53] Speaker B: This is either five or six for this year. [00:01:56] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:01:57] Speaker B: And I do plan on coming back one more for this year. But I travel by myself. I'm just obsessed. I do a lot of research, search on New York City, and YouTube has a lot of people who cover a lot of New York City content. And I started following Kelly and it was actually, I had meant to do it several times to take a tour, but when I first started following you, it was bad weather and I'm like, I'm not gonna. And I don't think you had them. You don't have them up until Christmas time. And then after that, that was it. So I did have to wait until the weather got nicer and everything, But I finally booked a tour and I've already had a lot. [00:02:46] Speaker A: Yeah, a lot of tours. Yeah. I've talked to Jay about you a lot too. Your magazine. Yep. [00:02:53] Speaker B: Just the best experience. [00:02:57] Speaker A: Thank you. [00:02:58] Speaker B: Amazing. I find I'm your tour business. [00:03:02] Speaker A: What'd you say? [00:03:02] Speaker C: It's a personal ad for your tour business. [00:03:04] Speaker A: Right. I was thinking that. [00:03:06] Speaker B: Oh, absolutely. And I would highly recommend. I have done other tours. Like I did the Sex and the City bus tour, which was fun, but I think a lot of the other tours in New York City, they're very cookie cutter. They're very timed like, okay, everybody, we got five minutes. Okay, let's do this. Let's. Every tour is the same, just a different day and different people. This is not like that. You actually got to pick your. Depending on which tour you booked, you got to pick where you wanted to go, what you wanted to do that day. And my area wasn't there. Just wasn't there. And mine was Tribeca. [00:03:48] Speaker A: Yep. [00:03:49] Speaker B: And I had just finished up watching Love Story, which I was obsessed with. [00:03:53] Speaker A: Did you see it? J. Did you see Love Story? [00:03:55] Speaker C: No, I've not seen it. [00:03:55] Speaker B: JFK Jr. Oh, my gosh. But I remember everything about them was obsessed with. [00:04:02] Speaker A: Yeah, I remember, too. [00:04:03] Speaker B: Everything. So my tour was basically, like, all their spots. So many different. I mean, pictures from the apartment. I'm actually, like, holding the handle. Going in. [00:04:17] Speaker A: Right to their penthouse building. [00:04:20] Speaker B: Yeah, absolutely. Right where they lived. Right where. Oh, my gosh, you can watch so many. [00:04:26] Speaker A: It was really fun, too, because, you know, I did. I didn't know much about the locations from, you know, JFK Jr. And Carolyn. Their life, you know, and so I learned a lot about Tribeca because of you. You know, I had to study and look it up a little bit, because [00:04:41] Speaker B: I remember you rewatched it. [00:04:42] Speaker A: Yeah. Thanks to you and I. What a great, great series. Thank you. [00:04:47] Speaker B: Everything. [00:04:47] Speaker A: And it. [00:04:48] Speaker B: Yeah, the apartment building looked exactly the same. And I had never been to Tribeca, so it was interesting. And now I love Tribeca. It's very industrial. [00:05:00] Speaker A: I agree. Tribeca. [00:05:01] Speaker B: It's unique. [00:05:02] Speaker A: You know what I love about the neighborhoods of New York City? I mentioned this before and is. I think I've mentioned this to you, Jay, too, is the different types of awnings, so to speak. Like, the awnings in Tribeca are telling me that we're in the Tribeca neighborhood, that they're very specific. And how the meatpacking district looks with their awnings, too, tells me it's the meatpacking district. And I love how the different styles of architecture tell me specifically which neighbor I'm in, neighborhood I'm in. And Tribeca is very distinct. [00:05:30] Speaker B: Right. If somebody could blindfold you, put you in a cab, and drop you off somewhere, and you could tell by looking around you, not street. [00:05:37] Speaker A: It's a beautiful neighborhood. [00:05:38] Speaker B: Nothing. But you could tell where you were. [00:05:40] Speaker A: Jay, do you ever run through Tribeca? [00:05:42] Speaker C: I do. I used to work over there. [00:05:44] Speaker A: Oh, really? [00:05:44] Speaker C: And so, yeah, I'd walk through it sometimes. We were actually at the Tribeca Film Festival a few years ago, and that was a cool experience to get to see our movie on the big screen. [00:05:56] Speaker A: That's pretty cool. [00:05:57] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:05:58] Speaker A: Wow. Love Tribeca. [00:06:00] Speaker B: I think it's. [00:06:01] Speaker A: Well, go ahead. [00:06:02] Speaker B: Expensive. [00:06:03] Speaker A: It is very expensive. [00:06:05] Speaker B: And a lot of I think you know, celebrities. [00:06:07] Speaker A: That's why I live there. [00:06:08] Speaker B: No, right, right. [00:06:10] Speaker A: I do not live there, trust me. But thank you, Melissa. I didn't expect you to say all of those nice things, so. But thank you. [00:06:17] Speaker B: I am a New Yorker, but I'm from Buffalo, New York. [00:06:22] Speaker A: That's a good point. [00:06:23] Speaker B: Right. I love. [00:06:25] Speaker A: Where were you born? [00:06:26] Speaker B: I'm a true New Yorker. Buffalo. [00:06:28] Speaker A: You were born in Buffalo? [00:06:29] Speaker B: I was born in Buffalo. I've been there. [00:06:31] Speaker A: But you're a New York Stater, so you're still a New Yorker. [00:06:34] Speaker B: It's not the same. [00:06:36] Speaker A: But in your heart you're a New Yorker, like most of our viewers and most of our listeners, you know, because people all over the world feel like they're New Yorkers and I think that's a beautiful thing by seeing, you know, movies and TV shows about. And songs about New York City. [00:06:51] Speaker C: Right? Exactly. [00:06:53] Speaker A: Absolutely everything about this. [00:06:55] Speaker B: I think we're truly starting to be. I'm a big Sex and the City fan. [00:07:00] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, I just watched it recently. [00:07:02] Speaker B: Humongous. [00:07:03] Speaker A: You just watched it Just recently. [00:07:05] Speaker C: I mean, last year. [00:07:06] Speaker A: But like you saw the whole. [00:07:07] Speaker C: Yeah, I watched it all the way through. [00:07:09] Speaker A: Like the movies or the series? [00:07:11] Speaker C: The series and the movies. [00:07:12] Speaker A: Really? [00:07:13] Speaker C: Yeah. That's watching the new show, but I didn't finish. [00:07:16] Speaker A: And just like that. [00:07:17] Speaker B: And just like that. [00:07:18] Speaker A: Yeah, yeah. Today's show is all about the viewers questions, you know, from my social media. So do you guys want to get into the questions right now? Are you thing else you want to say? Because we have a lot of questions. [00:07:33] Speaker C: Let's get to those questions. [00:07:34] Speaker A: Yeah, I think so. [00:07:35] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:07:36] Speaker A: Our first question, everybody, is from Anne Marie Lewis. She asks, what is your favorite observation deck in New York? My friends, I like both your faces. You're both, you're both really thinking. [00:07:49] Speaker C: I've actually never been to an observation deck in New York. [00:07:52] Speaker A: Are you joking? [00:07:53] Speaker B: Can you? [00:07:54] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:07:55] Speaker A: Okay, show's over, everybody. Well, Joe's the executive producer of the New Yorkers. He's never been in it. [00:08:01] Speaker C: You keep inviting me to come to the State Building. [00:08:04] Speaker A: Exactly. And your family. [00:08:05] Speaker C: Yeah. But I haven't been yet. And then I also haven't been to the one in Hudson Yards. [00:08:14] Speaker A: The Edge. [00:08:15] Speaker C: Edge. I should say the edge. [00:08:16] Speaker B: Yeah. I haven't been to the Edge. [00:08:17] Speaker A: Oh, yeah, it's really nice. [00:08:19] Speaker C: Are there other ones? [00:08:20] Speaker A: Okay, there's six. I'll tell you right now. I'm gonna go over them all real quick, everybody. So we have the Empire State Building. We have the Top of the Rock. [00:08:30] Speaker C: Okay. [00:08:31] Speaker A: We have the Summit at one Vanderbilt, which is a Grand Central Terminal, we have the edge, our edge, NYC at Hudson Yards. [00:08:39] Speaker C: Okay. [00:08:40] Speaker A: We have One World Trade down at World Trade Center. And lastly, we have a newer one, which is One Times Square, which was just finished this year. It's brand new and it's beautiful, too. So there's six total in New York City, everybody. [00:08:51] Speaker C: Of the New York Times building. [00:08:54] Speaker A: The New York. No, no, That's a good question. No, it's One Times Square. It's where the New York's New Year's Eve ball drops at midnight. Yeah, right there. It's one of the bookends. I call up Times Square because the Jumbotron or whatever at 42nd, where one Times Square observation deck is way up there. And then the other bookend is behind the red stairs, you know, So I called them the bookends of Times Square. So what do you think, you guys? What are your favorite observation decks? But you've never been. [00:09:22] Speaker C: I've never been to one, so I don't know. [00:09:23] Speaker A: How did I not know that about you? We need to go the Empire State. But I need to take you. Yeah, tell your mom and dad. [00:09:29] Speaker B: Yeah, yeah, we just went. [00:09:31] Speaker A: Yep, we did, too. And what's your favorite, Melissa? [00:09:37] Speaker B: I don't want to. We were talking about it earlier. I just love going to the Empire State Building. I just love it. I love that inside of the building, the art. [00:09:49] Speaker A: The Art Deco. Amazing. [00:09:51] Speaker B: Yes. But like I told you, you can't and see the Empire State Building from [00:09:58] Speaker A: the Empire State Building. Exactly. I agree. [00:10:01] Speaker B: Most people associate, you know, if you see a picture of the Empire State Building, people know automatically. New York City. [00:10:08] Speaker A: Right. [00:10:09] Speaker B: It's what comes to your mind. [00:10:10] Speaker A: Correct. [00:10:10] Speaker B: You can't see that. You can't get any. [00:10:13] Speaker A: That's so true for me. [00:10:14] Speaker B: But it is beautiful. [00:10:15] Speaker A: I always want the Empire State Building in my photos and my videos because it screams New York, you know, that is the epitome of New York City. Empire State Building. I love the Empire State Building, but that's why I want to go to the top of the Rock because they're both Art deco, the origins of Art Deco here in New York City. Like the Chrysler Building as well. [00:10:36] Speaker C: Right. [00:10:38] Speaker A: But, you know, I want the Empire State Building in my photos and videos. But I also love to be in the Empire State Building because I love how I feel inside of the Empire State Building. That classic New York love, you know, love of New York City. So I have a tie, you know, but I like them all. Like I said, I, you know, I Say, I like them all. They're all beautiful. They all create a different perspective of the city from where they are. They're all designed differently. They're all beautiful. Sadly for me, personally, I cannot go into One World Trade. I think it's a beautiful building. I just can't go in it. I can't explain why specifically, but obviously it's tied to 9 11, so I just haven't been in that one. And I would love to go, but I don't see myself going in it. [00:11:27] Speaker B: I will never go again. [00:11:29] Speaker A: What'd you say? [00:11:30] Speaker B: I will never go again. [00:11:31] Speaker A: You've been in it once? Yeah. And was it beautiful? [00:11:35] Speaker B: Well, of course it's beautiful, but it's also very. I just get very emotional going down there. [00:11:43] Speaker A: I don't even like that's true. [00:11:45] Speaker B: To go down there. I find it very like people who want to go to the museum. I've been through the museum like four to five times now. [00:11:54] Speaker A: I just went again recently. [00:11:55] Speaker B: I know we didn't talk. [00:11:57] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:11:58] Speaker B: I do recommend if people are going to go to that museum, go on your last full day here because you're gonna be super depressed because you're gonna be leaving the next day. So you might as well just like cry it all out of the way. Exactly. Because it's a very draining. It's just draining. I remember the first time I went in there, I came back to the hotel and I slept for like four hours. I had to take a nap. It's just emotionally, it's just so hard. [00:12:31] Speaker A: Yeah. It was my second time. [00:12:32] Speaker B: Beautiful, what they have done. And oh, my gosh, it's absolutely incredible. [00:12:38] Speaker A: Yep. I went with my dear friend Steve and Denise. [00:12:42] Speaker B: Yes, you just did. And it was their anniversary. [00:12:43] Speaker A: It was their 49th anniversary just recently. And they came and visited New York City and we spent some time together as well. And we went there and I hadn't been there since it originally opened. And I can't believe how much they added to it as well. I didn't know they were continually, continually adding, you know, exhibits like that, if that's the correct word. I want to be respectful, but yeah, I mean, it's beautifully memorialized, if that's an okay sentence or two words to say. But it's hard for me. [00:13:16] Speaker B: I haven't been there in about four years. [00:13:19] Speaker A: Yeah, it was. Yeah, it's very emotional for me to go to. Yeah. But, you know, those are the six observation decks. And we're going to make Jay go very soon, [00:13:32] Speaker C: whether I like it or not. [00:13:34] Speaker A: Yeah, you're going to go. [00:13:34] Speaker B: I didn't say about my favorite one. [00:13:36] Speaker C: Oh, what was your favorite? [00:13:38] Speaker A: What was your favorite? [00:13:40] Speaker B: I. You know what? I hate to. Well, Empire State Building, I would love to say, but can't say Empire State Building. But I do think the summit was absolutely. [00:13:49] Speaker A: Oh, it is. [00:13:50] Speaker B: The views were incredible, and I've been during the day and also at night. And both were. At night was really, [00:13:59] Speaker A: you know what. And the Empire State Building is right in your face. You know, I think it's such one of the closest views. It's beautiful. Beautiful. Yeah. Gorgeous, too. The Edge has some stunning views, too. Emery asked another question. If you had one full day to spend in New York City, what would you do? Why don't we each pick a season? Why don't we each pick a season and say, what would we do? Go ahead. [00:14:22] Speaker B: What season do you want? [00:14:24] Speaker C: I'll take the spring, because springtime is like one of my favorite seasons. [00:14:28] Speaker A: Go ahead. [00:14:30] Speaker C: So I'd say that you should take a. If you're staying in Manhattan, I would say Central park is probably, you know, Central Park's great all year round, but in the spring, everything's blooming, the weather's perfect, and the cherry blossoms are in season here in time for cherry blossom season. So I would say, yeah, Central park is a must do. During the day, I would eat at a restaurant somewhere on the, you know, in the 50s area. [00:15:05] Speaker A: Right below west side or east side? Oh, you said. [00:15:09] Speaker C: Yeah, right below the corner. [00:15:09] Speaker A: What am I thinking? Yeah. [00:15:12] Speaker C: And there's a lot of good food around there. [00:15:14] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:15:15] Speaker C: And then maybe go see a show. Theater district's right there. Go see Broadway show right before the Tony season. So that way you can, you know. Know what's. Know what's good. Yeah. So I'd say that would be my day for spring. [00:15:30] Speaker A: Yeah. Where would you start in Central Park? [00:15:34] Speaker C: I like to start near. Maybe near the museum. Is at the Met. [00:15:41] Speaker A: Right. [00:15:41] Speaker C: Is over there walking around. That's in like the 80s ish. [00:15:46] Speaker A: Right. [00:15:46] Speaker C: So you could walk from the 80s ish down to the 50s through the park. [00:15:52] Speaker A: Yeah, I like that. [00:15:54] Speaker B: Are you talking about the history museum? [00:15:57] Speaker C: No, on the east side. The Met. [00:15:59] Speaker B: Oh, okay, [00:16:02] Speaker A: perfect. I like it. That's what I do, too. Melissa, what would you do in what season? [00:16:09] Speaker C: Oh, [00:16:12] Speaker B: well, I'll pick winter, and that's. And I don't come here a lot. [00:16:17] Speaker A: But you do come here a lot? [00:16:19] Speaker B: Well, I don't come here a lot. [00:16:21] Speaker A: Oh. [00:16:21] Speaker B: To a specific spot, like January, February. [00:16:24] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. [00:16:25] Speaker B: You know, when it's that. [00:16:27] Speaker A: But Understandable. [00:16:28] Speaker B: There's nothing like Christmas in New York City. It's just magical. And it's something you have to experience. You absolutely have. You just. You have to go see the tree. You have to go see the Rockettes. There's just nothing like it. [00:16:45] Speaker C: You go ice skating. [00:16:47] Speaker B: I have. I've gone ice skating twice now. I'm too old. I don't need to break a hip. Like a while ago. [00:16:55] Speaker A: So funny. You're like, I'm not doing that anymore. Yeah. [00:16:58] Speaker B: No, no. [00:16:58] Speaker A: We're crazy, isn't it? How we get to that point in our brain? [00:17:01] Speaker B: We're like, we're done. No, because I'm afraid. I'm scared. [00:17:03] Speaker A: Yeah. So funny. But sad. It wouldn't be funny if I. Yeah, exactly. That's my whole point. [00:17:11] Speaker B: Broke something. But. Yeah. It's just absolutely beautiful and. Love it, love it, love it. Just all the shops and the decorations. It's. [00:17:26] Speaker C: Yeah. The Winter Building. [00:17:27] Speaker B: There's nothing like it. Oh, Bryant Park. [00:17:29] Speaker A: Bryant park is my favorite. That's your favorite spot in the world? [00:17:32] Speaker B: It is my favorite. Yeah. That's my favorite place in New York City. [00:17:36] Speaker A: Yeah. Want me to go? [00:17:39] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:17:40] Speaker A: Yeah. So I'll say autumn time, and you don't realize how many trees are in New York City until it's autumn time. [00:17:52] Speaker C: I know. And all the dead leaves are flying. [00:17:54] Speaker A: Yeah, exactly. See? [00:17:57] Speaker B: And then you gotta be careful slipping on the wet leaves. [00:17:59] Speaker A: Exactly. [00:18:00] Speaker B: You have to be so careful. [00:18:01] Speaker A: You put the golds and yellows and reds and oranges on. All the trees around the city are incredible, you know, And, I mean, they're everywhere you look. And I would definitely start in Central Park. Without a doubt. I would start in Central park and work my way down as well. I mean, it's just breathtaking. And then, you know what I would hide out to? I would head down, actually, in Midtown. There's some trees by Radio City Music hall that you don't notice until it's the color of the season. And I took these beautiful photos of Radio City Music hall signed with all these gold and yellow leaves in the trees. Like right along 50th street there, between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue. Yeah, they're just starting. I mean, go. I would go to. I would also go to Governor's Island. Governor's island has some really pretty leaves that change. And you can get the back line are the. You. You can get the background of the Midtown Manhattan skyline, you know, throughout the trees, and it's just. [00:19:09] Speaker C: That's cool. [00:19:09] Speaker A: This entire city, even Little Island. I like to go to Pier 57 down on the west side of Manhattan on the Hudson river, where Little island in Pier 57 are. Is. So if you go up to Pier 57, you overlook little island, but with the lower Manhattan skyline behind it. But Little island is just completely gold and yellow and orange, and it is bright. Breathtaking. [00:19:34] Speaker B: I should go there then, because maybe I'll start to like it. [00:19:36] Speaker A: It's. Oh, yeah, it's so pretty. [00:19:38] Speaker B: I mean, the city, I don't think Little Island. [00:19:41] Speaker A: You don't like Little Island? [00:19:43] Speaker B: No. I don't know. I. Because I've taken some of the boat tour, you know, the cruises. [00:19:49] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:19:51] Speaker B: It just doesn't look right. Oh, you see everything. [00:19:54] Speaker A: Oh, from the boat. I see what you're saying. [00:19:56] Speaker B: It just. [00:19:57] Speaker A: The boat view. [00:19:58] Speaker B: You don't feel like mushrooms or something? I don't know, but it's just weird. [00:20:02] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:20:02] Speaker C: The prettiest site. [00:20:03] Speaker A: But no, it's not like golf tees. [00:20:05] Speaker B: And now that it's been there for a while, it's, like, dirty. It's dirty if there's rust or something. [00:20:11] Speaker A: Yeah. They're, like, whitish, you know? [00:20:13] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:20:14] Speaker A: Golf tees, so to speak. I get what you're saying. [00:20:16] Speaker C: Yeah. I go, I guess. [00:20:17] Speaker A: You know, I mean, that's funny you say that. [00:20:20] Speaker B: I mean, it's very unique. [00:20:21] Speaker A: Yeah. From walking down the street, it's really cool. Yeah, I get that. But I guess from the Hudson river or Sully landed his planes, it's. Yeah, I get that. [00:20:34] Speaker B: It's just odd. [00:20:36] Speaker A: But from Pier 57, it's beautiful. I think so. [00:20:39] Speaker C: I also. For fall, I just saw this today, but Prospect park is having a, like, fall themed festival with, like, pumpkin patch and, like, psychic readings and. [00:20:51] Speaker A: I knew you're gonna say that. [00:20:53] Speaker B: Oh, that's because they have, like, apples and stuff. Yeah. I love doing things like that. [00:20:59] Speaker A: What I love, too, is Central park does this awesome Halloween festival, too. [00:21:03] Speaker C: Oh, the haunted house. [00:21:04] Speaker A: Yeah, the haunted house. Where? [00:21:06] Speaker C: At Prospect Park. [00:21:06] Speaker A: Oh, I didn't know that I'd love. I just walked through Prospect Park. I did a tour recently, too, with my friends Jill and Lily. I've done like, five or six tours with them or more now, too. And they. We went to Prospect park. And there was a point I was trying to say, and I can't remember, [00:21:24] Speaker C: you're saying how you like Prospect Park. [00:21:26] Speaker A: Yeah, I love it. I love walking through it. I think it's a park that's underrated, that people don't go to that they come to New York City, they don't know about Prospect Park. [00:21:33] Speaker C: Right. Yeah. [00:21:33] Speaker A: There's something else I was going to say you remind me of, but. [00:21:36] Speaker C: Haunted house. [00:21:37] Speaker A: Oh, yeah. Thank you. So, you know, Central park has the Halloween festival, too, up by Harlem. The Harlem area. Or by the Harlem Mirror. M E E R. The Harlem Mirror. And I found out this year they're not doing the Pumpkin flotilla, which I absolutely love. It's really cool. Anyway, breaking news, everybody. [00:21:56] Speaker B: I also love to go look at all the brown stones that are decorated during the fall season. [00:22:03] Speaker A: Oh, that's right. I can't believe I didn't say that. On the Upper west side. And Upper east side, especially beautiful. And our friend Hillary, who has that beautiful home, she decorates every year. I'm going to see her tomorrow with all the pumpkin she's bringing up. Oh, I will. [00:22:18] Speaker B: Hopefully I'm going to see her tomorrow, too. [00:22:19] Speaker A: Yes. Speaking of. The next question is from Patty Dunn. Which one? Nyc. What is one NYC neighborhood that visitors often overlook and. But absolutely. Shouldn't I. [00:22:36] Speaker B: We talked about that. I. Tribeca. [00:22:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:22:40] Speaker B: It was my first time being there after the Love Story and taking my very first tour. I love it. And like I said, I don't hear many people. I'm going to Tribeca today. You know what I mean? I never hear that as a destination of somewhere they really, really want to go. [00:23:02] Speaker A: But I highly recommend it. I agree. How about you, Jay? [00:23:06] Speaker C: I'm trying to think of the name of the neighborhood. What's the. You know what the one is, like, right below Brooklyn Heights. You're probably not super familiar with it. [00:23:21] Speaker A: Like down below Brooklyn. [00:23:23] Speaker C: Yeah, like above Red Hook, but below Brooklyn Heights, there's like. Oh, Carol Gardens. [00:23:27] Speaker A: Carol Gardens, Yes. They have a great restaurant I like there, too. [00:23:30] Speaker C: Yeah. So it's not like a very tourist. Like, you wouldn't think it's a tourist attraction because it's not. It's mostly families that live there. But I feel like a lot of tourists think of New York as just kind of skyscrapers, where I feel like Carroll Gardens is very much a neighborhood that you could find, like, in the suburbs somewhere. And so I feel like tourists might enjoy, like, the local food that they have. It's right on the Atlantic Ocean east river estuary, so there's like, great river views. There's views of the Empire State. Not the Empire State. Well, you can see the Empire State Building, but also the Statue of Liberty is what I was thinking of. [00:24:10] Speaker A: Right. [00:24:11] Speaker C: And so it's just. It's a nice neighborhood. And I feel like people visiting New York get a lot of the city but they don't get a lot of the neighborhoods that, like, New York is known for. [00:24:22] Speaker A: Yep, I like that. [00:24:23] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:24:24] Speaker A: You know what for me is I've spent recently, the last few months, some amount of time in this neighborhood, and I didn't really know much about it, and I fall in love with it. Greenpoint in Brooklyn. [00:24:35] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, Greenpoint's great. [00:24:36] Speaker A: It is gorgeous. Have you been there to Greenpoint? It is. It is kind of behind Barclays center in a sense, I think. No, what's. What else is in the other neighborhood [00:24:47] Speaker C: right there you're thinking of? [00:24:51] Speaker A: But it is Greenpoint. [00:24:52] Speaker C: No, Greenpoint is up near Queens. [00:24:56] Speaker A: I don't think so. [00:24:57] Speaker C: It is Green Points up near Queens. I know what you're thinking of. [00:25:02] Speaker A: It's where the play. You know, the. The play with the Brooklyn Bridge. Yes, that's Greenpoint. That was right next to it because I remember people telling me. So it's going to be a surprise, everybody. But it's Fort Green in Brooklyn. [00:25:17] Speaker C: Okay. [00:25:17] Speaker A: I mentioned for Green before, you guys. It's beautiful. I just, for the first time this year, kind of spent more time out there because, you know, I was collaborating with the Brooklyn's Bridge play. [00:25:28] Speaker C: Right. [00:25:29] Speaker A: And it was. And Jen and I were doing that. And Jen and I explored the neighborhood before and after the play, and it was a stunning neighborhood. I was in love with it, with the brownstones. I just loved the vibe in Fort Greene. Everybody sitting outside at restaurants and walking around the neighborhood. It was really cool. I loved it. I recommend it to everybody. Go to Fort Green, you guys, just as on your vacation here, and just stroll around that neighborhood. It's gorgeous. [00:25:59] Speaker C: Did you go to Fort Green Park? [00:26:00] Speaker A: We did. We walked through Fort Green park because before the. So Jen and I had to speak about the. The tour. We were taking people over the Brooklyn Bridge after they saw the play Brooklyn's Bridge. So we had to go up in front of the audience and speak, you know, mention the bridge. So Jen and I would walk around Fort Green park and practice our lines. [00:26:24] Speaker B: So I wish that would have been up longer. [00:26:27] Speaker A: Oh, it's amazing play. Oh, incredible. I write. I think it's coming back, though. I'll keep you posted. [00:26:32] Speaker B: Oh, really? [00:26:32] Speaker A: Yeah. It's coming back. I really love it. I can't. It's an incredible play. So Maxima Gabby Mack asks, what are your top three to five places for unconventional tourists who want to see New York City? [00:26:47] Speaker B: Three to five. [00:26:47] Speaker A: We'll say three. We'll bust out three. Each of us. I'll go first this time. Okay, so I say Coney Island. I think that's been there. Oh, it's so fun. Jay, you bit. You've been there, right? Yeah, I work over there now. Yeah, I would assume. Yeah. I love Coney Island. Another one is Roosevelt Island. Have you been to Roosevelt Island? No, I love it. Love it on the east river in between Manhattan and Columbia. [00:27:11] Speaker B: Yeah, but you don't like the. [00:27:13] Speaker A: Don't. I don't like the tram. I took it off my tourist. I don't like it. The heights drive me crazy, so I took it off. Yeah, I do tours. I'm like, they're like, this is amazing. I'm like, I love it. Yeah. So I don't do it anymore. And then another neighborhood is Harlem. [00:27:27] Speaker C: Okay. [00:27:28] Speaker A: I love Harlem. I just did a live video the other day there. I love going to the restaurants, which is Red Rooster and Sylvia's, two of my favorite restaurants there. I love going to the Apollo Theater for amateur night. In love with Harlem. How about you? What's your next one? What's your three? [00:27:46] Speaker B: Definitely Bryant Park. [00:27:48] Speaker A: I know. I agree. [00:27:49] Speaker B: Love, love, love. [00:27:50] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:28:36] Speaker A: Did you know there's a wild pheasant that lives there? And I forget its name. And there's a woman I've met who's really sweet. Yeah. [00:28:43] Speaker C: Who. [00:28:43] Speaker A: Who takes care of it. Yeah. [00:28:45] Speaker C: That's kind of funny. [00:28:46] Speaker A: What's yours? [00:28:48] Speaker C: We talked about a little bit, but I'd say Prospect park, they always have something going on. If you, like, want to do things. If you're like an activity person. Like, they have ice skating. They have the boats you can take out. There's people. People fish there. And if you're not, it's a great place to relax. There's a lot of cool, like, like out of the way locations where you can just hang out for the day. Or there's like hiking trails. You can go hiking if you want. [00:29:16] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:29:17] Speaker C: And they Also, like, have activities like the fall festival. So there's always something to do in Prospect park. Or there's nothing to do if you don't want there to be. I'd say Red Hook, actually. Some friends are going there to celebrate the birthday, but they. It's a great. Kind of like, It's a weird neighborhood because it feels like you're in the country because there's no train stop that goes out there. [00:29:44] Speaker A: That's true. That's why I never been. [00:29:45] Speaker C: Yeah. Everyone has a car and Red Hook. Everyone in Red Hook has a car. But there's a great. There's incredible views of the Statue of Liberty. There's great food. There's a lot of really small shops that are, like, super local. And it's a really cool neighborhood to walk through, but you have to walk a bit to get there, which I think is why people don't really go there. But if you do go there, it's cool. And I don't really have a third, so. [00:30:15] Speaker A: Well, I want to thank you, Jay, because you're the one who introduced me to Prospect Park. I'd never been before you. You know, before you took me and you showed me, like, the real Prospect Park. And it's the same designers and architects as Central Park. [00:30:28] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:30:29] Speaker A: So the similarities are amazing. It's beautiful. I love it there. [00:30:32] Speaker C: Yeah. Last one. I'll say Barclay Center. I work there, too. But it's a cool event hall. I think Madison Square Garden gets a lot of the New York City event Hall prep. Good point. I think Barclay center is a cool, modern. The event hall. So if you want to see a concert or a game. Highly recommend. [00:30:51] Speaker A: I completely agree. [00:30:53] Speaker B: I have not. There's been shows that I wanted to go to that were there, but I haven't. I just go to Madison Square Garden. [00:31:05] Speaker A: Yes. [00:31:06] Speaker B: Harry Styles. [00:31:07] Speaker C: Awesome. [00:31:08] Speaker A: Harry Styles, Tell them the story, too, that you told me about after the show. [00:31:13] Speaker B: Oh, last night. And I. I walk everywhere. I am not one. And, you know, it is a good thing. And I probably should learn more on your tours to use the subway. Because I'm, like, strictly an E train person. Like, get me into the city, but I find that I walk. [00:31:34] Speaker A: But the reason why you're gonna miss [00:31:37] Speaker B: a hundred things if I get on the subway. Not that I don't mind the. I don't mind the subway in bad weather. That's why I need to do it. Because if it is bad weather, I would prefer the train. But came out of Madison Square garden, walked up 8th Avenue to get there by this well, the show started at 8, so. And it is getting to be that time of year. And it was already. It was dark. [00:32:01] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:32:01] Speaker B: As I was walking, I had to [00:32:02] Speaker A: be like 10 or 11. [00:32:03] Speaker B: No, well, no, that was on my way to there. I walked all the way down 8th Avenue. So when I got out of the show, I'm like, I'm going to go back down 8th Avenue. [00:32:11] Speaker A: Right. [00:32:12] Speaker B: We'll just go the same way. So I'm walking and I'm walking, and I'm not really paying. I'm just walking. It was a beautiful night. It was exciting. And you could hear Harry Styles music. It was playing everywhere in the little. [00:32:27] Speaker A: Right. The little pedicabs. [00:32:29] Speaker B: Pedicabs. It's so fun. And then I looked up and I was at 22nd street, and I was supposed to be at 47th, so I went the wrong way. [00:32:45] Speaker A: Not even knowing. Yep. [00:32:47] Speaker B: I just turned around and I walked back. And I wasn't scared. I wasn't. And like, a lot of people, every. You know, there was a. People going that way because that was their direction. Unfortunately, it wasn't mine. [00:33:01] Speaker A: Right. [00:33:02] Speaker B: But by that point, pretty much the crowds had cleared out, so I. There wasn't a lot of people around at all. I never even thought about being afraid for a second. [00:33:12] Speaker A: It was late night, kind of. [00:33:14] Speaker B: I was so comfortable. Oh, it was almost midnight. [00:33:17] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:33:18] Speaker B: Almost midnight. [00:33:19] Speaker A: Walking up 8th Avenue at midnight. I know. [00:33:22] Speaker B: And they say. And I do notice a lot of people say that 8th Avenue. Shady. [00:33:27] Speaker A: Oh, you're on 7th Avenue, actually. But. Yeah, no, I was on 8th. [00:33:30] Speaker B: I was on 8. [00:33:31] Speaker A: Oh, wow. Yeah. [00:33:39] Speaker A: You know, I did a live video purposely the other day because people do complain about 8th Avenue. [00:33:43] Speaker C: Do that. And it was a beautiful night and it was a beautiful walk. And it didn't matter that I went the wrong way. I didn't know where to go. [00:34:04] Speaker A: Good for you. I think it's important for people to hear a woman's perspective, too, you know, about. Yeah. [00:34:10] Speaker B: Not everybody may be comfortable doing that. [00:34:13] Speaker A: Yeah. But that's. I could walk there, like, without even headphones and just, like, listening to the waves in the Hudson river or, like, listening to the people talking and walking. There's so many different things to see as you're walking up and down and see the neighborhoods change as you're continuing up or up or down the park and. Yeah, I don't know. I just. It's one of my favorite spots in the city to just be. [00:35:21] Speaker B: It does sound beautiful. [00:35:23] Speaker A: It is. What's yours? [00:35:25] Speaker B: Mine's Bryant Park. Always going to be Bryant Park. And I just. I love to go there. I go to the Whole Foods. I will get a salad, and I love to go there in the nice weather and just sit and get my little table, and I put my earbuds in, and I usually watch a movie because they do have free WI FI in Bryant park, which I didn't know that. A lot of people don't know that. Why do I know that? [00:35:53] Speaker A: I'm in Central Park. I mean, Bryant Park. [00:35:55] Speaker B: Yeah. [00:35:55] Speaker A: We were just there, you know, five times a week, and Melissa told me about WI Fi. I'm like, what? [00:36:01] Speaker B: You could be doing work there? [00:36:02] Speaker A: I had no idea. You know, Beautiful. I'm moving in there tomorrow. To Bryant Park? Yeah. [00:36:08] Speaker B: I put my earbuds in and I watch a movie, and I look up and the Empire State Building. And the trees are so beautiful. [00:36:16] Speaker A: Yep. [00:37:20] Speaker A: The favorite spot in New York City, I think most people notice who listen to me on my social media and on my live videos is Central Park. [00:37:27] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:37:28] Speaker A: Hands down, everybody, Central park is where my heart is. Obviously New York City too, but the heart of New York City is Central park, in my opinion. It actually, they've been called the lungs of New York City because of the trees and everything. But hands down, I love that place. As you guys hear me on my social media say, I could. I feel like someone could blindfold me and I could walk through Central Park. I love it. I don't how I feel when I walk through Central park makes my heart sing. You know, I remember when I first moved to New York City, it was the first blizzard, like within the first year or two when I moved here. It was like a record blizzard. And the feelings I had of the snow covered Central Park. You know, the, the. It was an afternoon heavy snowstorm and. But the. It was enough time where it cleared up and the sun came out and the way the heavy, thick snow was on all the trees and, you know, was a couple feet deep, it seemed like. And everything was just covered in snow and it had this softness over it that I'll never forget. It was just the city felt so soft. And I remember seeing all the dogs running around and playing and rolling in the snow. You know, tons of kids and families sledding up and on the hills in Central Park. It. That's the first of my life I knew what joy felt like. I remember being aware of the feeling. I'm like, this is what joy feels like. I will never forget that moment in Central park did that to me and is my favorite place in the world. You know, it was incredible. But that's my story. [00:39:06] Speaker C: No, that's awesome. [00:39:07] Speaker A: That's my favorite. I mean. And so I feel that when I see in the springtime when the cherry blossoms, you know, the joy it brings me, I can feel internally, you know, and then in the autumn time with the colors of the leaves and everything. And I have that same joy in the winter time, too. In the summertime, too. [00:39:27] Speaker C: But I feel like for summer for me, like. And I haven't been in a while, but I love to go see Shakespeare in the Park. [00:39:33] Speaker A: Oh, me too. [00:39:34] Speaker C: I didn't get tickets for the last few ones, but. [00:39:37] Speaker A: Yeah, next year. [00:39:39] Speaker C: But I feel like, the joy, like, everyone, like, anticipating going to see the show and everyone's like, getting off the train and walking to the theater and like, waiting or like they're waiting on the line or. Yeah, it's. That's cool. [00:39:53] Speaker A: And, you know, the vibe of everybody in line is so positive. [00:39:56] Speaker C: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everyone's so excited. [00:39:58] Speaker A: You know what? What? Shakespeare in the park, you guys, this is like. It's a free concert. I mean, a free play. Yeah, I meant a free play, not a concert. [00:40:06] Speaker B: We have that in Buffalo. [00:40:07] Speaker A: Oh, you have that in. [00:40:08] Speaker B: And Delaware park, which is also Homestead and Vox. Correct. [00:40:13] Speaker A: I think. Did we just talk about that? I don't know. Who did I just talk to about that? [00:40:18] Speaker B: It was probably Mika. [00:40:19] Speaker A: No, I told someone else that. That you told. Oh, it was Jen. I told Jen about the Delaware park that you told me was also designed by Olmsted and Vox. You know, it doesn't care. It's Olmsted and Vox, but it's still beautiful. [00:40:35] Speaker B: Yeah, the cherry blossoms and there's a Japanese garden there. [00:40:38] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:40:40] Speaker B: The art gallery and the historical. [00:40:42] Speaker A: Yeah, it's. [00:40:44] Speaker B: But we do have Shakespeare in the Park. [00:40:46] Speaker A: I love that. I love that. Some parks are just beautiful, aren't they? In Central park in New York City and everything. I just. I love it here. And you introduced me to, you know, Prospect Park. Love these. You talk. The dog. The dog pool. The dog beach is like a real little lake where the dogs run into. [00:41:07] Speaker C: So cute. [00:41:08] Speaker A: It's amazing. [00:41:08] Speaker B: And our little park. On my first tour, we came up to a rock iron fence and we were looking and I think you were saying, oh, my gosh, this is beautiful. [00:41:20] Speaker A: Right? [00:41:21] Speaker B: And I was like, oh, I love this. And we were like, I can't believe I'd never been. And we went. And then I was like, wait a minute, wait a minute. Where did Steven. Miranda. And it's in the city. And it was it. That was it. [00:41:34] Speaker A: That was the park. [00:41:34] Speaker B: It was it. [00:41:35] Speaker A: And you know what? It was stunning. It's right there on 6th Avenue. It is further down toward the West Village, I think. It's a Sixth Avenue, right? Yeah, it is. Jefferson Library right there. You know, the. You know, when you're looking down 6th Avenue. And you're looking. There's a. There's a famous photo or view. You're looking down 6th Avenue. Say you're at 23rd Street. You're looking down 6th. You can see the World Trade Center. But there's also like a pointy building on the right. [00:42:05] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:42:05] Speaker A: With like a pointy. That's Jefferson New York Public Library. And so that's where they got married. It's the Jefferson Library. So if anybody wants to see, this is a. You introduced me to this too. You guys both introduced me to amazing parks here in New York City. But this little, tiny, quaint park at the library just outside, it is stunning. You guys must go to this little park too, and especially if you're a Sex and the City fan. [00:42:27] Speaker C: I was there a few weeks ago, but it was closed. [00:42:31] Speaker A: Ah, it's a bummer. Bummer. [00:42:34] Speaker C: I was. I was just. I was. I was waiting for a friend, and I was, like, trying to find a place to sit down, and I like. [00:42:40] Speaker B: I was like, oh, the beautiful place. [00:42:42] Speaker C: And I could, like, smell the flowers, and it smelled so good. I mean, the things she's taught me, like, she takes to meet me to all these places, too, that I've never even heard of. [00:45:34] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:45:34] Speaker A: Like, what was the story across from the Jefferson Library? That famous old. [00:45:40] Speaker C: Oh, yeah, like [00:45:43] Speaker A: the headband at like a department drugstore. [00:45:46] Speaker C: Yeah. [00:45:47] Speaker B: Oh, Bigelow seal. [00:45:48] Speaker A: Bigelow. I didn't even know that that's where [00:45:50] Speaker B: Carolyn Bessette bought all of her. [00:45:52] Speaker A: Yeah. [00:45:53] Speaker B: A lot of her skin products. And also she bought the famous tortoise headband. [00:45:58] Speaker A: Right. So. So it's just little things that were not little. Just things that you taught me about New York City. When I'm with you, I mean, it's amazing. You've taught me so much. [00:46:08] Speaker B: Your research. [00:46:10] Speaker A: You are very. [00:46:10] Speaker B: I work nights. [00:46:11] Speaker A: She is extremely. [00:46:12] Speaker B: I'm a nurse and I work nights with her research. And on my nights off, I am up all night and I'm on my phone. [00:46:19] Speaker C: Nice. [00:46:20] Speaker B: Hate to say it. You wouldn't want to see. When I get that little pop up of how many hours I've spent on my screen, you don't even want to know. It's sickening. It's pathetic, but it's always looking up New York things.
